Differentiate VERBAL and NON-VERBAL communication
Verbal communication is when the speaker uses words in order to convey their message. This type of communication is vital and effective because it makes it possible to spread the message faster while still being accurate. Thus, verbal communication helps you save valuable time. Examples of using verbal communication are conferences, presentations, gossips, and casual conversations. The first two examples are types of formal communication while the latter part are examples of informal communication.
On the other hand, nonverbal communication refers to the use of body movements without requiring any spoken words to pass messages. In this type of communication, the speaker converys the message through hand gestures, body language, and facial expressions. Nonverbal communication is also important if the verbal communication is not enough to deliver the message across. When used hand-in-hand with verbal communication, it makes the message more meaningingful. Examples of nonverbal communication is the use of eye contact and hand gestures.
