Back when I lived in the United States of America, I had experienced a lot of communication breakdowns, especially in school. During the first months, I was shy and lacked the confidence in talking to my classmates, so the breakdown of communication was caused by psychological barriers. I also experienced cultural barriers back then as I wasn't used to the American culture and it was different from our culture, such as calling someone "ate" or "kuya" to those who are older than you, and the different holidays we celebrate there versus here in the Philippines.
